When and how did you stumble upon What is relevant to an appreciation of this image, and does it tell a story?, and what do you “relate” to in it?
How has this image served your growth as an artist?
This image is of my sketchbook, art supplies, and my frogs snuck into
the picture. I relate to this image because it’s an image that I have created. I produced the sketches on that page, and I understand the process and meaning of that art better than anyone else.
The palette and materials help to highlight part of my artistic process.
This picture tells a story that someone sketched and painted the art in that sketchbook, and I know that
I created it. That makes me like the photo more. There is a level of liking that I have for this image that
I wouldn’t have if I did not make it, because I know what went into creating it. I spent the time and energy
to do that.
The image also signifies my growth as an artist. The art looks sketchy, loose, and like someone was just having fun. I have always felt that creating sketches is an emotional process. It’s like journaling. You are manifesting whatever is happening inside your head and converting that to whatever you put on that paper. My growth as an artist is partially attributed to the emotional process that is sketching.
